Mother's Day - I Spent It Crafting

I spent most of yesterday getting lost in crafting.

In two sittings, I painted my clay fairy door and mushroom house that I made by hand using no molds a few days ago (see them just created a few entries back). When they dried/cured they were a soft white. Now, I just need to spray them several times with a protective acrylic spray. I thought they'd photograph better before the spray.

Click on the above photo to see more detail. On one side of the mushroom fairy house is a lilac bush and on the other side is a tall ladder that reaches to the top window.

Also, I started a loom-knitted stocking hat for hubby. I have the cuff done and a few rows done into the hat.

Playing With Clay

Tonight I played for the first time with some natural clay called "plus" from Activa that's made in Spain. I really love it!

It reminds me of the clay that is thrown and shaped on a pottery wheel. To keep it workable and from drying out you use water from a spray bottle.

I free-formed a mushroom that will feature a fairy door in its stem and another fairy door with a window. In about 72 hours, I'll be able to paint them. That should be fun. I can just see a trailing vine painted on the second door.
