Another Dress For My Girl, Blythe

I designed and started this "Ice Cream Dress" about a year ago, hit a roadblock and never finished it.

Either it was conquering and finishing the other dress or watching Fashion Star, that took me over the hump allowing me to just breeze right through it last night. BTW - I love that show!

I think the roadblock for a bit on each dress was how to neatly and effectively close the back. I found velcro worked for the first dress, but only tiny snaps would work and still look nice for this one.

A Dress Finally For Simply Mango Blythe

Last Year for my birthday, I got my Neo Blythe - Simply Mango.

I had plans to open kittyred's Blytique at Etsy. I got so far as reserving the shop name, made a banner, icon and did all the nec. text for it and still haven't opened it. See, making doll clothes was a bit challenging for me as it had been YEARS since I'd done that. Working with such small pieces sewing them kinda intimidated me. So, no new dresses for my own and none to sell.

Finally, Friday night I got a dress finished and here it is... YAY! I had to do some alterations as her pattern was for a Barbie, but thanks to THIS tutorial I at least knew how to proceed so I wanted to give her a shout-out.

I found this fabric remnant in my Mom's things. She made a dress for me using it way, way back when I was a girl. I recognized the fabric right away, but can't remember what the dress looked like. Even though it was a challenge to sew with it 'cause it ravels a lot, and I don't have a serger machine, I finally got the dress done.

I now see hope that my shop will get opened eventually down the road. So far, all I have sewn for it is a few hats for the small Blythe doll, a kitty tote bag for the larger one, plus some free gifts for buyers, but now maybe I can open it with also some new dresses to sell.

I found that cute, little bike at Hobby Lobby and the pet crate for her chihuahua at Dollar Tree.

SHE'S HERE! My Girl is here...

She made it all the way here from Japan in only 3 days.

Of course I guess she should with shipping costing $31.00. I know...yikes. And, I had to sign for her (I was never notified about that!) which luckily worked out when normally I wouldn't even have seen or heard the mailman. It was just pure luck or I would have probably had to wait until Monday or Tuesday to go pick her up at the post office.

Apparently, one HAS to take pics of the delivery and unwrapping/unpacking of the doll especially if it's your first one. But, I doubt I'll ever get another Blythe since they aren't exactly cheap. But, I'm sure I'll want one... So anyway, I documented the event in pics (without asking the mailman for his pic...*grin*), but I haven't even been to bed yet and it's past 2:00 in the afternoon so those pics will have to wait until another time.

The only thing that I found not to my liking which is really nothing is that her pet Chihuahua's leash won't go over his head. It's no problem to make another one though as it's just ribbon.

I bought him a dog crate anyway 'cause I saw one in a doll set at The Dollar Store that works great - and only a $1.00.

I love them both...

She's On Her Way From Japan

My Neo Blythe Simply Mango and her little pet chihuahua are on their way to the USA to live at my house with me and my chihuahua. I haven't figured out what I want to name her yet - Or, what to name her pet chihuahua.

For the longest time (a year or so) I've been researching Blythe dolls and dreaming of owning one (the 12" one), but the cost just put me off - UNTIL - this week when I saw this little cutie with her pet Chi. I have to say it was the chihuahua that sold me, but she's pretty cute too with her groovy orange hair. When I told hubby the one that I got, he said, "Well of course you did..." :o)

I gathered from all of my research she's a very good investment - so - she's my gift to myself for my birthday which is July 5th. I think it's just so cool how you can change the color and position of her eyes to several different colors (4 colors)/several different looks - a very unique, fun doll.

Right now I'm creating and hand sewing some hats for the Littlest Pet Shop Blythes that have been for sale in the USA since last year. They each also have pets. These dolls are SO tiny, only 4-1/2" tall. I have one set of hats done though and designs and plans for others.
