More Brenda Brilliance

I finished 3 more of Brenda's bells and finally made her Belle Angel too.

I revised the pattern a bit for mine, but I love her picot cast-on/stitch. That would make a great edging for a hat.

My angel's hands are in a muff, and for the body and head I used the small end of the KK spool and did the e-wrap stitch instead until 4" long. It makes a slightly bigger head and rounder face.

Once again patterns for both can be found at Brenda's BLOG.

Now, I need to get to finishing-up hubby's Xmas present.

Brenda's Knifty Christmas Bells Pattern

I finally got one of Brenda's ornaments done from my on-line looming class. It took me 2 days (or was it 3 (?) to find where I'd put my jingle bells in my craft room...lol.

I used "Home For The Holidays Glittering Yarn" by Darice that I bought after Christmas last year at Michael's for only 10 cents. It was only .3 oz. on a card, and I used almost all of it for this one bell.

I combined it with Hobby Lobby's - "I Love This Yarn!" in Mistletoe Ombre. I think it came out rather nicely only that glittering "yarn" (which is really kinda like plastic tinsel on a string) doesn't stretch hardly at all so I ended-up having to take out the pegs of the KK flower loom to finish it.

I'm anxious to try another one using only 4-ply yarn. I also want to make a gold cord bell and an angel if time permits.

You can find all of Brenda's wonderful patterns here at her blog:

Love This Cotton Yarn's Color

Folded and ready for the guest bathroom...
Cotton Yarn used: Peaches & Creme in Peppermint #191

The bookmark was knit on a FG 6.5" knitting loom with a crocheted border. It started out to be half of a dishcloth that I was going to piece two together to make one , but because my hands were hurting working the knit stitch on the fine gauge loom I turned what was going to be a dishcloth into a bookmark instead.

I finally did knit a washcloth/dishcloth using the Knifty Knitter round, blue loom (smallest) instead.

We're knitting a flat panel, Wrap 3 times - Knit 1 loop over 2 until about 9", Crochet BO, Crochet edging on two sides (the CO and the BO sides).

My Version Of The Baby Cocoon

This is my Baby Cocoon creation plus matching hat made for my daughter's first baby due at the end of December '08. Knit on the KK round, yellow loom. Hat was made on the KK round, blue loom. Depending on the size of the baby you might want to use the KK round, red loom instead. These cocoons are often times used as a photo prop for newborns. This one is super soft and drapes wonderfully.

E-wrap CO - e-wrap stitch with a few ending rows of the flat knit stitch (to make the gathering with less bulk), gathered BO. Ending length is about 23".

Yarn used: Patons "Be Mine" #5 in Fuzzy Yellow - 2 skeins (Approx. 95 yds. each)
Bernat "Softee Baby" #3 in Funny Prints - 1 skein (Approx. 333 yds.)
Both yarns held together as one.

Made From A Pattern I Wrote

This item is something I hope to be adding to one of my Etsy stores soon in time for the holidays and gift giving.

I loom-knitted this apple/fruit cocoon from a pattern I wrote.

I love it 'cause it will easily fit small, medium AND large apples. It also is great for other fruit as well - pears, oranges, etc. Or, you can add a fake apple to it (as pictured) and give it to a teacher to always sit on her/his desk.

I've also been writing other patterns (for baby booties and other baby items, a small ring basket, etc.) so those items may soon be for sale in my shop as well. I guess I've finally been loom-knitting long enough to be able to take this next step and make items from patterns that I have created and written rather than just following others' patterns.

Besides, I can't sell items made from those patterns of others because of copyright - only my own. So, developing and writing my own patterns is rather exciting to say the least.

Loom Knitting On The Brain

I've been busy loom knitting baby things for my daughter's first baby due in Dec. and my first grandchild. It's going to be a boy!

This is only a few pics of the many baby things I've made/am making.

The baby bib is my pattern.

The Little Bow/Butterfly Bonnet was designed by Pam Sawyer. You can get the pattern at her BLOG.

On another note, I'm quite excited that one of my loom knitting projects (non-baby) that I made for a Christmas gift and felted has been chosen to be featured next week on the home page of one of the Yahoo loom knitting groups that has a membership of 8,647 and growing! I feel so honored...
